Here’s something worth a look: two new global health journals are headed our way in the very near future.
The first, called Global Health: Science and Practice, releases its inaugural issue this month. It is backed by heavy hitters like USAID and the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and has been “developed for global health professionals, particularly program implementers.” It looks to be a promising platform for discussion on a breadth of topics of interest to our community.
The second launch comes via established and respected medical journal The Lancet and will be called, logically, The Lancet: Global Health. Set to arrive in June, the new journal will be online-only and will focus on health in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It will publish original research on (to name a few): reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health; infectious diseases, including neglected tropical diseases; non-communicable diseases; the global health workforce; health systems; health policy; and public health.
Both publications will be open-access and peer-reviewed.
So the big question is: which one will be the first to show fistula some love? Don’t all jump at once, now. Plenty of material to go around.
